Cafe Sebastienne was a new find for us this trip to Kansas City. Located inside the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, it is quite the cafe. With New American cuisine, it is an adventure for your taste buds. We were seated by the hostess and had the chance to view the art installation, as we decided on a table inside or on the"patio." Once we decided for a patio table, our waitress Traci came and got our drink orders as we looked at the menu. I opted for the Pomegranate mule. My husband opted for the vanilla latte. Once we received our drinks, we placed our orders for lunch. My husband Michael got the vegan mushroom chili(hubby said chili was good, but would like to see a finer dice on the mushrooms. He said the heat consistency was good as well.He is not a fan of extra spicy food, so it worked for him) and the chicken salad sandwich(he said the chicken for the chicken salad was a bit dry.He did enjoy the flavor of the grilled bread and tomatoes). For my selection for lunch, I decided to partake in the crab cake salad(when it came to the salad, I am not a fan of peas in my salad, and the dressing was next to not existence, because it had been soaked up by the salad. Maybe offering it on the side might be a good option for people). Overall, it was a lovely 1st time visit for us, and we hope to he back to see how the menu evolves.

Ok, Café Sebastienne is literally amazing!! This is one of my new fav brunch places. The menu is in season and all of the dishes were very fresh and delicious!! I ordered the Brioche French Toast, which came with fresh peaches and bacon-some of the best French toast I've had. It was super fluffy and a great consistency. The peaches were juicy and fresh, and the bacon was thick and cooked just right. I also ordered a mimosa, which was bomb and even though my dish was incredible, I couldn't help but drool at the sight of my friends' dishes as well. Oh! And everything is beautiful! Def insta-worthy! I'll definitely be back!

Each year I come here for restaurant week and I'm reminded that I should visit more often! 2019 resolution: more lunch meetings at Café Sebastienne. One of the main things I love about the place is the chef's intention to make the Restaurant Week menu food allergen friendly. Markers indicating Gluten Free, Nut Free, Dairy Free, Vegetarian, and Vegan make it soooo easy to find delicious food without being "that guy" and asking a million questions. I'm really excited and hopeful to see more of this from Café Sebastienne in the future. My mouth still waters for all the delicious food I've had here - from soups to meats and everything in between, I've never had something here I didn't like (and I always try all the food on the table ). I also can't say enough good things about not only my server, but each person who works at the cafe.

This place is all around five star; the service, the food and the ambiance. We sat in the courtyard and it was nice and bright but cool. A nice break from the summer heat yet still able to enjoy the sunshine. We started with the soup of the day, black bean. It was zesty and delicious. The Green Salad was so flavorful and light. For dinner we chose the pork chop and steak. Both were cooked perfect with the most beautiful presentation. The meats were full of flavor and had a lovely grill taste. My wheat berry salad on the side complimented the grilled taste of the chop well. My husband's smashed potatoes were the best we have had. Loved that both dishes came with different types of veggies than your standard carrots, asparagus or broccoli. I believe it was bok choy and and maybe endive. This was probably one of the best meals I have had in KC. There is just no way of not relaxing and enjoying a meal in a museum.

If you came here after reading about my mixing bowl noshery review, welcome! Came here after that place was a bust. As I walked through the contemporary museum to the restaurant which is inside, I was immediately pleased with the environment; especially because we sat in the sunroom with the sun peaking through an optimal temperatured Sunday brunch morning. I ordered the Juanita's con huevos which was great. It was pulled pork with crispy tortilla strips over it with a mango puree or sauce and guacamole and refried beans (not the can tasting ones from most Mexican restaurants) and 2 over easy eggs and a spicy chipotle sauce on the side. I was pleased with the variety of taste that all blended together well. My friend ordered the French toast and it was delicious as well. Well balanced with subtle complexities on the flavour profile. Texture was good as well. Soft enough, and not overly soggy. Service was good as well. She timed her approach well when we needed her. The busser however seemed a little odd when interacting with him, but did little to affect my rating.
